Notification received of changed to controlled parking in Clapham

There are a number of proposed changes within the Clapham C Controlled Parking Zone area that are proposed to begin in mid November.

We have had some early stakeholder meetings and some of the issues that have so far been discussed include;

- Short term bay provision in Old Town for business use,

- The shift of shared residents/pay and display bays in Grafton Square and;

- Consolidating times of operation between Belmont Road and Belmont Close.

We are also aware of the area based scheme improvement that is likely to be proposed for the Clapham Old town area in the future.

It is our intention to circulate draft consultation materials to ward members before they are finalised. However, we would be interested to hear if you have anything else to add regarding any of the issues raised above, or if you are aware of further issues and/or complaints that affect your wards regarding the controlled parking zones within the Clapham C area before the consultation materials are put together.

Below is a licensing application which has been presented to Lambeth council. If you If you have any comments in respect of this application, please contact licensing@lambeth.gov.uk prior to 28th October and feel free to also post your views on this application in the comments section below (noting any comments here would not be taken into consideration in regards to this application).

A Variation application for a Premises Licence under the Licensing Act 2003 in respect of the below-mentioned premises was received by the licensing authority on 30th September 2008

Activities/times requested:
This application has been made to authorise changes to the internal layout of the premises, in particular to the location of the toilet facilities. No changes are proposed to the existing times or activities permitted, nor to the external layout of the premises.

Prior to determining this application, the licensing authority may accept written representations from Responsible Authorities and Interested Parties on the likely effect of the grant of this application in relation to the licensing objectives, which are:

· Preventing crime and disorder;

· Public safety;

· Preventing public nuisance; and

· Protecting children from harm.

Representations will be disregarded if they are deemed to be vexatious, frivolous, or irrelevant, or if they are received later than the 28th October 2008

If a valid representation (or more than one) is received and is not withdrawn, this application will be referred to a hearing of the Licensing Sub-Committee for determination. If no representations are received, the application will ordinarily be determined by the relevant Licensing Officer.

Bromells Road – road closure

Have received the following notification of the closure of Bromells Road:

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE BROMELL’S ROAD

The Council of the London Borough of Lambeth hereby gives notice that from Tuesday 7^th October 2008 for a period of up to 14 days, vehicles will be temporarily banned from entering that length of Bromell’s Road which lies between the north-eastern kerb-line of The Pavement and a point 53 metres north-east of that kerb-line, whenever indicated by the placing of the appropriate traffic signs.

Alternative routes for vehicles are available via (i) Bromell’s Road, Stonhouse Street, Cresset Street, Voltaire Road, Edgeley Road, Larkhall Rise, Rectory Grove, Old Town and The Pavement and (ii) Venn Street, Stonhouse Street, Cresset Street, Voltaire Road, Edgeley Road, Larkhall Rise, Rectory Grove, Old Town and The Pavement.

Whenever the ban referred to in paragraph 1 above applies the one-way working in that length of Bromell’s Road which lies between the north-eastern kerb-line of The Pavement and the south-western kerb-line of Venn Street will be suspended.

The ban is necessary so that emergency works can be carried out to a burst water main and will not apply to any vehicle connected with these works
